“Untamed Elegance.. That's a Mercury Cougar!”
1967, het jaar dat Elvis Presley menig hart brak door te trouwen met Priscilla, de Boeing 737 zijn eerste vlucht nam, Jimi Hendrix een nieuw album uitbracht en het jaar dat onze Cougar werd geboren in Dearborn.
De teksten die wij schrijven komen altijd uit onze eigen hand maar voor de Cougar willen we toch graag een passage uit de folder gebruiken: “The relationship between a man and a his car is a very special thing. A car is many things to a man. A passport to adventure.. an open road beckoning.. and a well-traveled trip to work”. Het wordt nog beter. “A man expects a lot from his car. Good looks that are a constant source of pride. Performance that won't let him down. A quite authoritative ride. Integrity of workmanship. A car that protects and pampers the ones he loves. It takes a lot of car to satisfy a man - and he gets it on his Mercury, the Man's car!
Dat ze aan doelgroepsegmentatie deden is duidelijk. Maar na het lezen van deze tekst ben je toch helemaal verkocht?? Nog niet? Dan doen we er nog een schepje bovenop. Het is Amerika's eerste sportauto met Europese flair en krachtige focus op de styling. Genereuze hoeveelheid ruimte gecombineerd met performance en comfort. Onder de kap ligt een 289 cu. V8 en dat is natuurlijk een must bij deze auto. Eerst de buurt wakker schudden en daarna op cruise control naar het eerstvolgende tankstation. Ze is in superstaat. Zien we je snel?

1967, the year Elvis Presley broke many a heart by marrying Priscilla, the Boeing 737 took its first flight, Jimi Hendrix released a new album and the year our Cougar was born in Dearborn.
The lyrics we write are always from our own hand but for the Cougar we would still like to use a passage from the brochure: "The relationship between a man and a his car is a very special thing. A car is many things to a man. A passport to adventure.... An open road beckoning... and a well-travelled trip to work". It gets even better. "A man expects a lot from his car. That they were doing audience segmentation is obvious. But after reading this, aren't you totally sold? Not yet? Then let's kick it up a notch. 1967, das Jahr, in dem Elvis Presley viele Herzen brach, indem er Priscilla heiratete, die Boeing 737 ihren ersten Flug absolvierte, Jimi Hendrix ein neues Album veröffentlichte und unser Cougar in Dearborn geboren wurde.
Die Texte, die wir schreiben, sind immer von unserer eigenen Hand, aber für den Cougar möchten wir trotzdem eine Passage aus der Broschüre verwenden: "Die Beziehung zwischen einem Mann und seinem Auto ist etwas ganz Besonderes. Ein Auto ist vieles für einen Mann. Ein Reisepass zum Abenteuer.... Eine offene Straße winkt... und eine weit gereiste Reise zur Arbeit". Es kommt noch besser. "Ein Mann erwartet viel von seinem Auto. Gutes Aussehen ist eine ständige Quelle des Stolzes. Eine Leistung, die ihn nicht im Stich lässt. Eine ziemlich autoritative Fahrt. Integrität der Verarbeitung. Ein Auto, das die beschützt und verwöhnt, die er liebt. Es braucht eine Menge Auto, um einen Mann zu befriedigen - und er bekommt es mit seinem Mercury, dem Auto des Mannes!
