• Design by Maestro Giovanni Michelotti
• Completely restored in 1999 - fantastic condition
• Classic color combination with wire wheels
• An absolute "head turner"
The Triumph TR4 was first introduced in 1961. The body was designed by the Italian star designer Giovanni Michelotti. With the final design for the TR 4, Michelotti created one of his masterpieces. The car stood tight on its large wheels and it looked charming with its large eyes. The chassis was taken over from the predecessor TR3A with some modifications. The 4-speed gearbox with overdrive is synchromesh and is partly responsible for the amazing sporty driving performance. The heart was the four-cylinder engine with a triple-bearing crankshaft and 2,138 cm3 (100 hp), plus 15-inch wheels, disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The steering rack, which its predecessor had to do without, was really new. The trade magazine “Auto Motor und Sport” took over a TR 4 as a test car in the summer of 1962 and praised the powerful, extremely elastic engine, the good visibility and the complete and functional equipment.
In total, just over 40,000 of these handy TR4 Roadsters were made. The largest sales market was arguably the USA.
History of this Triumph TR4
This fiery roadster was also first delivered in the USA. The last Austrian owner bought this car at an auction in 1999. It was completely restored under his direction and he only moved this likeable roadster when the weather was proven to be fine. In 2015, Scuderia Sportiva Colonia had the opportunity to acquire this vehicle for the first time and sold it directly to an important collector in the Rhineland. He also only drove this vehicle in the sunshine and so it happens that this TR4 still looks today as if it had just been completely restored. To date, Scuderia has carried out all due service work and can confirm that this Triumph is in first-class condition. The engine is very powerful, sportier air filters are installed. The equipment is complete, the interior is very neat. Chassis, brakes and transmission have recently been serviced. The wire storage rims, which were optionally available at the time, are also beautiful, of course. With the perfect color combination of red and black, this roadster is a real eye-catcher. Its driving performance is very dynamic. The roadster feeling is simply phenomenal and the pithy sound is amazing! This TR 4 currently has German approval papers. It will be difficult to find a comparably well-preserved car on the market.
